I am afraid of going to the dentist. I wonder if I am the only one? I was just getting used to the one in California when we moved to Oregon last year but now I had to find a new one. I put it off for about a year but I knew it had to be done so I found one close by and like a good mother I made my kids go first! The day of the appointment I was nervous for the kids but ever so grateful it wasn't me! I knew, that my time was coming though. The kids made it out just fine and really liked the dentist. The office was nice and they even provided hot water for tea or hot chocolate. That was worth some points. I reluctantly made myself an appointment for a cleaning before we left. I went to that appointment and I lived through it. I did get bad news though, my nice gold crown that I had become friends with for the last 10 years needed to be replaced on my back molar. That meant, another trip to the dentist! I set an appointment. 2 weeks later, my appointment arrived but wouldn't you know it my oldest daughter had a cold and I was SURE I had it too, so I cancelled my appointment. I re-set it for the next week. So my 2nd appointment time rolls around and that morning when I woke up my youngest daughter came into my room and said she had spots all over her, no kidding. She had Chickenpox! Hence, I cancelled my 2nd appointment, that's ok, I didn't want to go anyway. Finally another 2 weeks later I actually go to my appointment. They were very nice and the lady even let me hold her arm and have control of the saliva sucker. The dentist really did a good job and now my temporary crown and I are waiting for my next appointmet to get my new gold crown on. I have that next week. I think I will make it through. I have found my new dentist and don't seem to be so scared. After all they are just people like us and they have to have work done on their teeth too. |
